On the square in front of the City Hall

The Christmas Market (Christkindlmarkt) starts at the end of November and runs through Christmas day. It is a classic Christmas market with 60 exhibitors showing and selling their handicrafts and original gifts. Locals and tourists enjoy strolling among the elaborately decorated trees in the park.

Vienna has a number of traditional Christmas Markets, but Christmas Market (Christkindlmarkt) is classic. In this historic quarter along the narrow paved alleyways with niches and courtyards are booths of gifts. Hand-made Christmas decorations and gifts, cakes, biscuits and hot punch, and the smell of fresh Christmas trees all contribute to the feeling of Christmas.
