Description

A astronomy museum and observatory

Kuffner Observatory (Kuffner-Sternwarte) was at one time a private scientific facility. After WWII as the population grew, city lights interfered with night sky observations. Now it is an educational museum. The observatory has a refracting telescope and other historical equipment on the premises.

Today the Kuffner Observatory (Kuffner-Sternwarte) mainly functions as a scientific museum. Of special interest to those interested in astronomy are the old pieces of equipment: an astrograph, a meridian circle, an ancillary vertical circle (which happens to be one of the few that still exists) and the largest heliometer ever built.
