A boulevard encircling the old city of Vienna

Ringstrasse, constructed in the 19th century, is the street that was built to replace the old city walls. In 1857, Emperor Franz Joseph I, ordered the demolition of the walls. This changed the city’s landscape and was representative of political change. It was a positive step forward on both fronts.

The Ringstrasse is one of the main sights to see in Vienna. This wide avenue is 4 kilometers long and is aesthetically pleasing. Owing to its unique construction, it is the focal point of Vienna’s city center. There are many sites to see in this area of Vienna.
