Description

A sightseeing square and the geographical center of Vienna

Stephansplatz is named for the Stephansdom, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna. Sites to take in at Stephansplatz include the cathedral, two exclusive shopping areas, Graben Street and Kärntner Street, and the Haas-Haus, a modern architectural structure by Hans Hollein.

The St. Peter's Church, or Peterskirche, is another site you don't want to miss at Stephansplatz square. There are many amazing examples of architecture to see from Gothic to Modern. You can tour stately Empire buildings and ornately decorated Baroque structures. Local merchants are very helpful and the subway system is easy to use.
