Description

The renowned Schönbrunn Tiergarten, established in 1752 by Franz Stephan as a menagerie, is the world's oldest, continually-operating zoo. From the pavilion built in 1759 and used as an imperial breakfast room, the zoo's layout fans out like the spokes of a bicycle wheel. Its many species, including giant pandas, polar bears, giraffes, and Siberian tigers, totalling 712 in all, enjoy regular meals distributed in staggered feedings throughout the day. Maps are available indicating which animal eats when.
